What to do with Unwanted Guests

For every type of extermination there is a different set of rules we advise our customers to follow so that we can do our jobs as effectively as possible.
Below is a list of rules and preparations that you will want to follow before our pest control specialist comes to your home or business to perform an extermination.

Bedbug extermination preparation

  1. Clean out all the clutter – bedbugs like to hide in dark places.
  2. Wash all bedding from mattresses, linens, clothing, pillows, mattress covers, and anything else that is machine washable and wash in HOT water, then dry in the dryer.
  3. Dry non-washable clothes and other items for 20 minutes on medium or high setting. The heat in the dryer should kill the infestation.
  4. After washing, place items in storage bins or garbage bags and wrap securely to prevent re-infestation.
  5. Empty closets in rooms where bugs have been found or where linens and towels are stored – the exterminator needs access into these spaces.  Treatment will be applied in closets, drawers, couches, chairs, electrical outlet covers, and surrounding areas.
  6. Vacuum floors, carpets, nooks, and crannies. Target baseboards and cracks in the walls and floors and vacuum the crevices of sofas. After vacuuming, seal the vacuum cleaner bag inside another plastic trash bag and throw it outside in the trash.
  7. Move objects away from the perimeter of rooms so the exterminator can have access to the perimeter of the rooms where bugs have been found.
  8. People and pets need to vacate the premises for 2-4 hours.

Flea extermination preparation

  1. Clean out all the clutter – fleas love to hide in dark places.
  5. Vacuum floors, carpets, nooks, and crannies. Target baseboards and cracks in the walls and floors and vacuum the crevices of sofas. After vacuuming, seal the vacuum cleaner bag inside another plastic trash bag and throw it outside in the trash.
  6. People and pets need to vacate the premises for 2-4 hours.

Cockroach extermination preparation

  1. Remove all food from the cupboards. Check for bug infestation and look especially close at items such as flour and cereal. Dispose of anything that you think may contain bugs.
  2. Move all food items to an area that won’t be subjected to the exterminator’s chemicals, such as in the refrigerator or in a box.
  3. Put all dishes, eating and cooking utensils, drinking glasses and cups in a box.
  4. Wipe out the interiors of all drawers and cupboards from which you have removed items with a soapy rag.
  5. Sweep behind the refrigerator.
  6. Clean the stove top and under the range.
  7. Remove kitchen curtains, towels and rugs. These will need to be laundered, in case they contain pest eggs.
  8. Empty out bathroom vanities, under sinks and closets.
